The ST3232E/ST3222E are 3V-powered 2 driver, 2 receiver devices following the EIA/TIA-232 and V.28/V.24 communication standards with low power requirements, high data-rate capabilities and enhanced electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection. All transmitter outputs and receiver inputs are protected against ±15kV electrostatic discharge (ESD) shocks. The ST3232E/ST3222E enable true RS-232 performance from 3.0V to 5.5V supplies with a dual charge pump that requires only four small 0.1µF external capacitors.The ST3222E features a 1µA shutdown mode current that reduces power consumption and extends battery life in portable systems. Each device is guaranteed to run at data rates of 250kpbs while maintaining RS-232 output levels. The device is ideal for 3.3V or 5V only systems and mixed 3.3V and 5V systems that require true RS-232 performance.
