F. Guibert- BiographyFrançois Guibert was born in Beziers (France) in 1953 and graduated from Ecole Centrale Marseille in 1978 with a Master degree in Electronic Engineering.

After graduation, he spent 3 years at Texas Instruments in France as a Technical Sales Engineer. In 1981, Guibert joined Thomson Semiconducteurs as a Sales Manager for Telecommunications. From 1983 to 1986, he was responsible for marketing of IC products, and later on for strategic marketing of telecom products in North America, based first in Los Angeles and then in New York.

Shortly after the merger of Thomson Semiconducteurs and SGS Microelectronica in 1987, Guibert was appointed Director of Semicustom Business for the Asia Pacific region based in Singapore in January 1988. Under his direction, the Company set up Semicustom Design Centers in Taiwan, Korea, and Hong Kong. In June 1989, he became President of the Company’s operations in Taiwan, and ST´s overall revenues in the country doubled between 1989 and 1991. At the end of 1980s, Guibert was elected Chairman of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Taiwan.

Since 1992 Guibert occupied senior positions in Business Development and Investor Relations. He was involved in the Company’s Initial Public Offering and became Group Vice President, Corporate Business Development, in 1995. Guibert was also responsible for Mergers & Acquisitions and, until 2001, for Financial Investor Relations Worldwide.

The achievements of his Investor Relations team have been recognized by prestigious industry awards. In 2000, La Bourse de Paris honored the Company for the Best Financial Communications Strategy and the Best Financial Communications via Internet. Between 1994 and 2004, ST made 14 acquisitions and completed 8 equity investments, at the combined value of $1 billion under Guibert’s management. In 2004, he contributed to the successful negotiations that led to a joint-venture agreement between ST and Hynix to build a $2 billion front-end memory-manufacturing facility in China.

In January 2005, Guibert was promoted to Corporate Vice President, Emerging Markets Region General Manager. He has also taken on the role of chairman of ST´s worldwide EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) Task Force.

On October 1, 2006, Francois Guibert was appointed Corporate Vice President, CEO Asia Pacific Region.

On June 30, 2007, Guibert became the Vice President of the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) in Singapore.
